Musician

Music Continues to Play Important Role

Music plays a role in nearly everything Kevin Guest does. When he was young, he lived and breathed music. Harmonies played constantly in his head. He wanted to be a rock star more than anything else. Though his life took a different path — corporate office rather than arena stage — Kevin still values music immensely and plays his guitar every chance he gets.

Though not a full-time musician, Kevin’s managed to create a multitude of musical memories. Highlights include sharing the stage with greats such as Kenny Loggins, Tommy Shaw, Eddie Money, and Belinda Carlisle. He’s performed at the Grand Ole Opry and he continues to perform part-time with country music superstar Collin Raye. He even plays regular gigs with The Free Radicals, a band featuring members of the USANA management team.

As a young entrepreneur with a fledgling video production company, he interviewed one of his music idols, Gene Simmons of KISS. That led to video interviews with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Jon Bon Jovi, and other big-name rock stars. Not bad for a boy from a small town in Montana.

In late 2020, Kevin Guest appeared on Bass Frontiers TV. He talked about music and how it’s impacted his life. The interview helped to launch the Bass Frontiers TV YouTube channel on Dec. 8, 2020.

In his recently published book, All the Right Reasons, Kevin shares 12 principles he strives to live by. Through a series of entertaining anecdotes and inspiring stories, he explains the reasons behind living these principles. He hopes the lessons he’s learned personally and professionally will help you create a life lived in harmony.

You might think I was yelling/singing because the microphone was off, but it wasn’t. I was over-the-top loving every minute of performing. Sometimes you just have to let it all out. That’s when magic happens.
Playing with one of my music heroes, Tommy Shaw. Is this real? Pinch me! Dreams do come true.
The Free Radicals rock the world, and we have a blast every time we’re together. I hope I qualify for the cool sunglasses next time.
At my first Grand Ole Opry performance with Collin Raye, I was as nervous as the Opry was grand, but Collin calmed me with wise counsel.
One of my lifelong idols, Ringo Starr, is one of the most gracious global celebrities I have ever met.
Gene Simmons at my first “Turn Up the Volume” interview.
If you’re ever going to launch your music CD sales in Walmart, wear a red shirt and hat. Shoppers love that.
In the glory days with Midnight Rodeo, I had good friends and a pretty decent mullet.
Playing with Eddie Money was like getting two tickets to paradise. Eddie is a musical force of nature.
My first band, Alibi, honed our craft in my parents’ basement. They were angels for lending us the room. We thought we were cooler than cool.
Backstage with Charrie Foglio, Bret Michaels, and my in-style acid-wash jeans.
